WWE News: Jack Swagger reveals the person who influenced him to leave WWE
What’s the story?
Former WWE Superstar Jack Swagger recently sat down to speak with the Arm Drag Takedown Podcast. During his interview, Swagger discussed a host of topics, including what he hopes to achieve in the Independent scene and Cody Rhodes’ influence in his career.
In case you didn’t know…
Jack Swagger was first signed with the WWE in 2006 and was part of the company till 2017, before being released earlier this year.
During his WWE tenure, Swagger won many championships including the prestigious World Heavyweight Title. He is also a former one-time United States Champion and also won the 2010 Money in the Bank briefcase.
The heart of the matter
During his latest interview, Swagger claimed that former WWE Intercontinental Champion and current Ring of Honor World Champion, Cody Rhodes, influenced him to leave WWE in pursuit of finding success in the Indy scene.
Swagger said that Cody is someone who has a very good brain and has a great idea regarding how the business works, and said that “The American Nightmare” has always been that way.
Swagger also added that Cody always knew what his game plan would be and always knew what he wanted to do and achieve in the wrestling business. He then praised Cody for what he has achieved and believes that the Bullet Club member executed his plan very well.
Swagger himself also said that he looks to gain a lot from the current Independent scene and said that he wants to wrestle in all forms and styles that the current Indy scene has to offer. He added that he wants to do it all and wants to build a pro wrestling character that cannot be stopped.
What’s next?
Swagger is currently working on various Indy promotions and has wrestled for companies such as AAW, WCPW and more. His current goal in mind is his upcoming match against current PWG Tag Team Champion and one half of The Chosen Bros, Jeff Cobb.
Cobb and Swagger will lock horns at Clash At The Cow Palace soon and Swagger also stated that he has Cobb in the back of his mind right now and will have to step up his game in order to defeat the former Lucha Underground Champion.
Author’s Take
I think Swagger might not be as successful as Cody in the Indy scene, but nonetheless, I do believe he has a lot of potential to become a huge star in the Independents.
