What's the story?

Recently released WWE Superstar James Ellsworth sat down with Rolling Stone, to chat about a variety of topics. Among them was facing Becky Lynch in an inter-gender match and also being known as a jobber, another word used for enhancement talent.

Ellsworth is hopeful about a return to the company. He also maintained that he didn't mind being known as a jobber.

In case you didn't know...

Ellsworth came into WWE as part of a one and done deal, in a squash match against Braun Strowman. His unique look got so 'over' with the WWE Universe, that he was brought back for a complete run soon after.

Ellsworth would first be booked in a program with then WWE Champion AJ Styles, and then again as Carmella's male valet. He would become an integral part of the SmackDown Live landscape.

The heart of the matter

Ellsworth said that his match was Becky Lynch was his first one in a while. He had stopped actively wrestling by then:

The funny thing about that is I hadn't wrestled a real match in a while. Even the A.J. stuff, I didn't get to show what I had. But with Becky, yeah, I had the nice takedown on her. I mean, I've been wrestling a while.

He is optimistic about a return to the company someday, when he can show off his wrestling prowess:

I just never got the opportunity there to show it, because that wasn't my job there. But hopefully, in the future, if I do get back there, I can show that I can go in the ring a little bit.

Moreover, James Ellsworth isn't really bothered about being known as a jobber, but would rather be known as someone who entertained, no matter what he was doing!

What's next?

Ellsworth seems to be enjoying his time in the independent circuit right now, bolstered by his run in WWE.

Author's take

It would be cool to see Ellsworth return to the fold someday. While some were vehemently opposed to his run, it's hard to deny that he did become a vital character.

We wish him all the best with his independent wrestling career too.
