WWE News: Jeff Hardy hints at top WWE star being the reason why he can't wear face paint anymore
What's the story?
In a recent Comic Con Q & A, Jeff Hardy was asked why he doesn't wear face paint anymore. He said "thanks, Finn Balor" in a joking manner, hinting that he could be the reason why The Charismatic Enigma isn't allowed to wear face paint anymore.
In case you didn't know...
For years now, Jeff Hardy has been sporting face paint, to the point that it became a signature of his character. It definitely suits his Charismatic Enigma moniker, and in GFW Impact Wrestling he utilised the face paint more often than not.
Since coming back to WWE, however, he hasn't used it in televised events. However, he has used it a bunch of times at the live event circuit.
The heart of the matter
Although he implied that Finn Balor was the reason why he couldn't wear the face paint, Jeff Hardy said that he probably wouldn't bring the face paint back until some special event or when he's on a singles run receiving a push. He went on to say that Vince McMahon said it was ok for him to wear it on house shows but not on TV.
However, it should be noted that if Finn Balor's Demon King persona is the reason behind him not being able to bring the face paint back, it wouldn't be one bit surprising as there have been similar stories before. Not that Finn Balor is to blame, of course.
That won't please many fans, as the face paint is one of his signature features. However, patience is a virtue, and if they can wait, then the return of the face paint on television is bound to happen at some point.
There were rumours swirling around that WWE is looking to separate the Hardy Boyz eventually, giving emphasis on Jeff Hardy. It wouldn't be surprising to see The Charismatic Enigma move over to SmackDown Live at some point to become a singles star.
What's next?
The Hardy Boyz are currently in the veteran phase where they are putting over younger talent such as Sheamus & Cesaro and Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins.
Hopefully, they don't fall into the same trap that the Dudley Boyz do.
Author's Take
It'll be great to see Jeff go on a singles run and bring back the face paint. Out of the two brothers, the ceiling as a singles star is obviously higher for him even now like how it was in their prior WWE run.
Hopefully, WWE decides to bring back the face paint soon when the time is right.
