WWE News: Jerry Lawler recreates funny photo with Paige
What’s the story?
On a recent edition of his podcast Dinner With The King, Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler opened up on a myriad of topics.
Apparently, Lawler had a backstage interaction with Paige at the WWE Royal Rumble PPV event, and the duo proceeded to joke about and recreated an infamous photo of ‘The King’ leering at Paige.
In case you didn’t know…
Back in mid-2014, when Paige held the WWE Divas Championship, she joined the commentary team at the table while a No.1 contender’s match, so as to determine her next opponent, was underway inside the ring.
It was when Paige got up in order to face-off with her challenger after the match, that Jerry Lawler was caught on camera; seemingly ogling Paige’s backside— a photo that went viral on the internet and has since served as fodder to several internet memes.
The heart of the matter
Jerry Lawler recalled that at the Royal Rumble PPV show which took place last month, he was walking towards catering and in the hallway saw Paige and Kelly Kelly approaching his general direction.
Lawler stated that Paige proceeded to hug him as they had met after a very long time, and the Anti-Diva then went on to jest with Kelly Kelly about the aforementioned photograph that sent the internet into a tizzy back in 2014. The King added—
"The whole time you are at ringside and you are looking around at no telling what, if they catch that exact second it appears that I am looking at Paige's backside and I don't really remember that as being the case but the picture looked like that. It sailed around the internet everywhere and she and I had a good laugh about it.”
“We recreated the picture back in the locker room with her looking at my backside, so that's the kind of stuff that can happen with pictures like that. Let me reassure everybody, and I swear on my mother's grave, Jim Ross and I were never asleep at anytime during the 25th anniversary of Raw—that never happened."
What’s next?
Jerry Lawler presently serves as a color commentator for the WWE, and makes sporadic appearances on WWE programming.
On the other hand, Paige is believed to have retired as an in-ring competitor owing to a career-ending neck injury she suffered last year. The 25-year-old pro-wrestling veteran is expected to stay with the WWE for the foreseeable future in a valet/managerial role for her faction on RAW which also comprises Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville.
Author’s take
Honestly speaking, the fans need to refrain from passing crude judgments about everything that’s posted about the WWE personalities on the internet.
A few netizens may present photos in a suggestive manner, so to speak, however, things may not always be what they seem like. It’s awesome to see Jerry Lawler & Paige finally bring resolution to this long-running joke/topic of debate.
