WWE News: Jim Cornette reveals who he thinks is the better between Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels
Speaking on the “Jim Cornette Experience” podcast recently, the infamous manager spoke in detail about two immortals of sports entertainment. Responding to fans in a Q & A session, Cornette was asked who he felt was better between Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels.
Both men are WWE Hall Of Famers with legions of fans and successful careers behind them. It is their feud, however, that continues to ignite passionate debate around the world to this very day, over twenty years after the Montreal Screwjob. Jim Cornette is not a man to mince his words and he let fly with some colorful language as he discussed the topic with co-host Brian Last on air.
“Bret Hart was a f****** high-level worker, an elite level worker”, exclaimed the man known as the Louisville Slugger, before quickly adding that it was probably Shawn Michaels who was “the best performer in the business in that period for a few years”.
He then joked that the Hitman would “probably punch him” for saying that! Cornette also stated that everyone knew he was on Hart’s side “personally”.
When it came to comparing the two men, Cornette said he felt that Hart was a more responsible individual and did not shirk duty like HBK had done when he “took his ball and went home”. He also made the point that while he did feel Bret could take himself too seriously at times, he wished modern talents had the same dedication to the business and in retrospect, the legendary Canadian deserves praise for his earnest approach to the craft.
Brian Last, who serves as co-host on the popular podcast, voiced his opinion that Bret Hart had better matches but Shawn Michaels gave better performances. Cornette said this was “a beautiful way of saying it” and that he was going to steal that the next time anybody asked!
