WWE News: Jim Cornette talks trash about Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn
Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn are perhaps the two most talented in ring workers in the WWE roster. Both of them started out together in Canada before breaking out into the independent circuit in USA. During their short time in the WWE, both have put some amazing matches with each other and with other superstars. Owens and Zayn, in fact, have a match of the year contender to their name in their Battleground clash, this past July.
Kevin Steen and El Generico, as Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn were known then, had teamed up in Ring of Honor(ROH) and had even feuded with each other in late 2009. Jim Cornette, had worked with them during their tenure at Ring of Honor.
But this wrestling legend did not have very pleasing words to say about the pair who ply their trade in the WWE today.
Jim Cornette on a recent episode of The Jim Cornette Experience, said some harsh things about the duo. Apparently Cornette had some issues with the two during their time in ROH. Although Jim tried to downplay how negatively he felt for them, his constant jabs at them were evident of the fact.
Cornette brought up the reaction of some fans constantly taunting Kevin Owens on Twitter after he became the second WWE Universal Champion. Jim said that it was the way to go for WWE after their first choice had been injured.
Cornette revealed that his gripe with Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn stemmed from their time in ROH. He said that Kevin Owens, despite being and excellent worker and good on the mic was actually “a pain in the f***ing a**.”
Here is a considerably cleaned up version of what Cornette had to say about the Universal Champion.
Cornette stared his rant by calling Kevin Owens “one of those French-Canadian f***s you can’t deal with” and said that fans of both Owens and Zayn cheered them only because they “never had to try and book them or try to work with them.”
Cornette said that Owens and Zayn would always want to do their own thing. Instead of listening to the people they worked with, they would rather work in front of 400 people in a Rec Center and do their own thing
Cornette however admitted that he was wrong to some extent. They just did not want to do as they were told “for the pay scale of Ring of Honor.”
Cornette made snide remarks saying that when WWE offered profitable contracts, Generico was more than happy to take “the f***ing sock” of his head, got rid of his goofy gimmick and started cutting promos.
And Steen apparently learned to “shut the f*** up” and started listening and following the finishes that had been decided instead of going out of his way to get a pop.
Cornette also shed light on another annoying habit of Sami Zayn. He said that during his time with ROH, Zayn would write three page e-mails explaining as to why the company should have paid for his airport parking in Canada and several other insignificant things.
He concluded by accusing both men of being “f***ing pains in the a** that would never shut the f*** up and listen.”
Cornette has always been a cynical critic of Kevin Owens but this is the first time that he has openly ridiculed Sami Zayn.
We would like to know your thoughts. Are Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn given more credit than they deserve or is Jim being too harsh on the two? Let us know in the comments below.
