What’s the story?

Per ThemeTitan (a social media account solely reporting on Jim Johnston and WWE music news), Johnston has been released from the WWE.

Apparently, the veteran music composer, whose career spanned three decades in WWE, is no longer employed by the promotion—

In case you didn’t know…

Born James Alan Johnston, better known as ‘Jim’ Johnston, the American songwriter, singer, guitarist, drummer and music composer has worked for the WWE since 1985.

Johnston has composed several notable WWE Superstars’ theme songs including that of Vince McMahon, the Undertaker, ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, The Rock, and many others.

The heart of the matter

One ought to note that Jim Johnston has also composed the soundtrack to several WWE Studios movies as well as WWE’s ventures in other sports such as the XFL and the WBF (World Bodybuilding Federation) previously promoted by WWE boss Vince McMahon.

Nevertheless, the reigns of WWE Music Group were given to CFO$ in 2014, and Johnston’s role in the WWE’s music department was relegated to a secondary one ever since.

Furthermore, it’s being noted that their separation was not mutual, and the promotion let go of Johnston who may not have wanted to call it quits with WWE. Besides, it was also emphasized that Johnston didn’t share a particularly close relationship with his successors CFO$, and did not ‘mentor’ them for their work in WWE.

What’s next?

As of this writing, both Jim Johnston and the WWE are yet to officially address his departure from the organization.

Sportskeeda will keep fans updated on the same, as this story develops.

Author’s take

Jim Johnston will forever remain close to the hearts of every true WWE fan.

The man is a music legend in his own right, and should this truly be goodbye to him from the WWE, here’s wishing Johnston the best of luck in his future pursuits.
