WWE News: Jim Ross claims Conor McGregor wrestling in WWE is "guaranteed"
What's the story?
Ever since former UFC fighter Conor McGregor wrapped up his blockbuster boxing match with equally outspoken boxing legend Floyd Mayweather, there's been a lot of speculation as to what he's planning on doing next.
While some have speculated that he intends to take the $30 million he earned from the Mayweather fight, convert it into one dollar bills, and swim in them like Scrooge McDuck (maybe that's just me), others have different ideas.
Like legendary WWE announcer and Hall of Famer Jim Ross, who is convinced that McGregor doing business with WWE is pretty much "guaranteed."
In case you didn't know...
Back in 2016, during a media call for UFC 202, McGregor had some less than kind words to say about WWE and its Superstars.
“For the most part, those WWE guys are pussies, to be honest. They’re messed up p*****s, if you ask me... There’s some dons in that wrestling game. The McMahons... Triple H... The Rock... [all dons]. But the rest of them are p*****s.”
Of course, this led to a large number of both WWE fans and Superstars calling out McGregor on social media, which prompted this response:
Of course, when it comes to showmanship as well as pushing people's buttons, McGregor is up there with the best of them.
The heart of the matter
This is what Ross had to say while a guest this Thursday on Colin Cowherd's Fox Sports show.
As Floyd Mayweather could tell him, there's a lot of money to be made in a WrestleMania match featuring Conor McGregor. Certainly, nobody expects Conor to go the Ken Shamrock route and go full-time - instead, like Jim Ross pointed out, a one-time major appearance would be perfectly suited.
What's next?
Even if McGregor working for WWE is a "when, not if" scenario, that "when" is still an important factor. In the meantime, WWE has something pretty cool going on with Ronda Rousey and the rest of the "MMA Four Horsewomen" and success with that could go a long way to convincing McGregor that this is a good business opportunity.
Author's take
I'm calling it - Conor McGregor vs Braun Strowman, WrestleMania 35. This is going to be one epic fight!
