Could we possibly see JR bringing back CM Punk to WWE?
Could we possibly see JR bringing back CM Punk to WWE?

What’s the story?

Veteran Pro Wrestling commentator Jim Ross recently sat down with Sam Roberts on his podcast of Sam Roberts’ Wrestling Podcast where Ross shared his thoughts on the talent which he believes that should be signed by the WWE in the near future.

In case you didn’t know…

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has worked for the WWE for well over two decades now and earlier in 2017, the 64-year-old made his return to the Vince McMahon’s company and provided commentary for numerous top matches including Undertaker’s Wrestlemania 33 match against Roman Reigns. Ross has also commentated alongside Lita during the inaugural Mae Young Classic tournament.

The heart of the matter

During Ross’ interaction with Sam Roberts, the WWE Hall of Famer revealed who he would like to sign to the WWE if he was asked to take over WWE’s Talent Relations. Jim Ross stated that his first goal would be to bring back former 6-time WWE World Champion Chris Jericho for another appearance at Wrestlemania in 2019.

Additionally, JR also claimed that he would try and find a way to get Bullet Club leader Kenny Omega signed with the WWE along with Kazuchika Okada, who he thinks is one of the best wrestlers in the whole world right now. Another one of Ross’ dream signings would be Omega’s fellow Elite tag team partners the Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) and their fellow Bullet Club stablemate Cody Rhodes, whom JR would like to bring back with open arms.

However, the biggest name that was on Ross’ wish-list is non-other than former WWE Champion CM Punk. JR indicated that he would like to try and find a way to bring back the Chicago star and provide him with one more proper run in the WWE and would make sure that Punk gets a proper build-up for a Wrestlemania.

“The only way I’d do him is have him return at WrestleMania and not be on television. Sign, train, vignettes, vignettes, little angle, boom. His first match is WrestleMania. Yeah, that way there’s no pressure on anybody.”- JR stated.

What’s next?

For the time being, JR continues to work for both WWE and NJPW as well, where he is the lead English commentator for AXS TV. However, we certainly hope that Ross becomes the head of WWE’s talent relations and is successful in bringing back CM Punk and also signing the likes of The Bucks, Kenny Omega, Kazuchika Okada, and Cody Rhodes as well.

Author’s Take

In my opinion, JR has pretty big ambitions for himself and the future of WWE. It will certainly be great to see Ross becoming the head of the talent relations of the company and it will definitely be amazing to see the likes of CM Punk and others make their way to the WWE as well.
