What’s the story?

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross recently spoke with MMAJunkie Radio. He covered several topics, most notably, Ronda Rousey's in-ring debut at WrestleMania.

In case you didn’t know...

Ronda Rousey had a lot of critics heading into her in-ring debut at WrestleMania, with many believing the match wouldn't go very well.

Most expected that anything good from the match would come from the exchanges between Kurt Angle and Triple H. Some doubted Ronda's ability in the ring, while others believed that since it was a non-worker in Stephanie McMahon, that the action between them would be awkward.

Thankfully, when it was all said and done, many believed it to be the best match of the entire show.

The heart of the matter

While speaking to MMAJunkie Radio, WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross spoke about Ronda Rousey's in-ring debut at WrestleMania, and had nothing but praise to give to the former UFC mega-star. Jim went as far as to call it the most impactful debut in wrestling history. He elaborated, saying:

"I thought that Ronda's debut was the most impactful pro wrestling debut that I have seen in my 40-plus year career. If you look at her skill set, experience-wise, from this genre in pro wrestling, it was almost non-existent, but she had so much pressure on her. The hype was amazing. The expectations were mixed. Some die-hard wrestling fans don't even like her being there, which is absolutely insane. They are [sic] and goofy, no doubt about that. So, I was absolutely blown away by what she did and how she executed. She looked like an athlete; we knew she is an athlete. She's a winner."

What's next?

Ronda Rousey is expected to compete at Backlash, possibly in another tag team match, this time teaming with Natalya, or possibly have her first one-on-one match, which would likely to be with Mickie James.

Author's take

I don't know if I would call it the most impactful debut in wrestling history, but it was a damn impressive one and I believe Ronda proved so many fans and critics wrong.
