WWE News: Jimmy Jacobs reveals Vince McMahon's initial reaction to 205 Live and more
What's the story?
Former WWE creative team writer Jimmy Jacobs was recently a guest on Chris Jericho's Talk is Jericho podcast during which he discussed WWE 205 Live's product and revealed some details regarding a few WWE storylines.
In case you didn't know...
Jimmy Jacobs was first signed by the WWE in 2015 as part of their creative team and during his time with WWE, Jacobs was said to be the innovator of many interesting storylines including Chris Jericho and his list and Dean Ambrose's Mitch The Plant.
Jacobs, however, was fired from the WWE earlier this year due to him clicking a photo with the Bullet Club during the BC's Raw "invasion".
The heart of the matter
During his interview with Chris Jericho, Jacobs talked about a host of topics and here are a few highlights:
On Dean Ambrose and Mitch The Plant angle:
Jacobs revealed that it was him who convinced Ambrose to name his plant 'Mitch' and according to him if a particular superstar broke the plant, then he would get a 2 for 1 deal, because of killing both Ambrose and Mitch.
“I felt, when you picked up that potted plant and you were going to hit Dean with it, the crowd’s reaction was like, no! Don’t do it! I thought that it was perfect that you were telling us to never call it Mitch the Plant ever again.” Jacobs stated.
On Chris Jericho's List of Jericho:
Jacobs stated that he tore a page out of NXT trainer Steve Corino's book and came up with the idea of The List of Jericho. According to the 33-year-old, Jericho's list was inspired by Steve Corino's real life "s**t list" and it is based on airing grievances. Jacobs also claimed that his actual idea for the list was a crumbled up piece of paper that Jericho was supposed to have on his left tights.
"I started pitching it to a couple of the writers, but nobody was really as excited about it as I was. Thankfully, you got it, and thankfully you were happy about it." Jacobs told Jericho during their interaction.
Vince McMahon's reaction to 205 Live:
The former WWE writer stated that Vince McMahon was really interested in 205 Live when it first started, but Jacobs himself believed that the Cruiserweight stars were in a really tough position right from the get-go.
According to Jacobs, it was really hard for 205 Live to create stars on their own because Jacobs believed that there is no real demand for the show.
What's next?
Jacobs is currently back in the wrestling world in a big way, "The Zombie Princess" has been wrestling for various promotions such as ICW, IWA and more.
Author's Take
I think Jimmy Jacobs has done a lot for WWE as part of their creative team and in my opinion, it was really a huge mistake for Vince McMahon to fire Jacobs for such a petty issue.
