WWE News: Jimmy Uso and Naomi officially announced as team for Mixed Match Challenge
What’s the Story?
SmackDown Superstars Jimmy Uso and Naomi have officially been announced as a team for the upcoming Mixed Match Challenge.
In Case You Didn’t Know
The WWE Mixed Match Challenge will feature eight teams of male and female superstars from Raw and SmackDown competing for $100,000 to be donated to their perspective charity.
The Heart of the Matter
The following is the press release that WWE issued announcing the fifth team for the Mixed Match Challenge:
Both brilliant competitors possess dynamic personalities and have an explosive in-ring style. Jimmy is battled-tested as a tag team specialist, not only as one-half of the reigning SmackDown Tag Team Champions, but also as a five-time overall Tag Team Champion. Not to be outdone, Naomi is a two-time SmackDown Women’s Champion currently poised to enter the first-ever 30-Woman Over-the-Top Royal Rumble.
When you add in the natural chemistry of the loving married couple, something most teams in the tournament will have to struggle to develop in a short time, you end up with a recipe for WWE Mixed Match Challenge success that will definitely leave the WWE Universe feeling the glow!
WWE teased this pairing as a possibility back in December when the two were in a YouTube video discussing teaming up together and the possibility of having to face each other.
With Jimmy and Naomi announced as an official team, this makes them the second married couple paired for the Mixed Match Challenge along with Rusev and Lana.
Despite being on the same brand, Jimmy and Naomi have had little to no onscreen interactions on WWE programming with exception to Total Divas.
What’s Next?
The Mixed Match Challenge will air after SmackDown Live starting on Tuesday, January 16. There will be a total of 8 teams announced for the show, so there are three more pairings that need to be announced.
Author’s Take
My odds are on the married couples to have the chemistry needed to win it all, but will it be Rusev-Lana or Jimmy-Nao.
