WWE News: Jinder Mahal meets a UFC Champion backstage at WWE Live Event
What's the story?
The SmackDown Live roster is currently in Hawaii for their live event tour. Backstage at the Honolulu house show, WWE Champion Jinder Mahal met none other than Hawaii's own Max Holloway, who is the current UFC Featherweight Champion
In case you didn't know...
WWE is currently touring Hawaii with the SmackDown Live brand. Max Holloway is also a proud native of Hawaii.
The last time WWE came to Hawaii was a year ago prior to the brand split. There was a rumoured card at the time that reportedly pitted up Shinsuke Nakamura against John Cena and Kevin Owens vs Brock Lesnar in first-time ever dream matches. However, that did not happen, and the two mentioned dream matches did end up happening later, with Nakamura defeating John Cena in an episode of SmackDown Live this year while Brock Lesnar squashed Kevin Owens at an MSG house show.
The heart of the matter
The WWE Champion posted a photo on Instagram of him and The Singh Brothers with UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway
It's great to see that many UFC fighters are big fans of WWE as well. All though there have been a lot of conflicts among MMA fans who have criticised WWE and pro-wrestling for being "fake" and pre-determined, it seems like a lot of top named fighters such as Daniel Cormier, Max Holloway, Ronda Rousey, etc. are big fans of WWE as well.
What's next?
Jinder Mahal is set to take on Shinsuke Nakamura at Hell In A Cell, whereas Max Holloway has his first title defence later this year, presumably against Frankie Edgar.
Author's Take
It's definitely cool to see the two champions of the world together. Hopefully, Holloway continues his red-hot streak in the UFC, while fans will be hoping for Jinder Mahal to finally get dethroned at Hell In A Cell.
