WWE News: Jinder Mahal's former stablemate reacts to his loss
What's the story?
The world celebrated in unison as AJ Styles defeated Jinder Mahal to become the brand new WWE Champion. The title change happened on SmackDown Live in front of a packed Manchester crowd.
Jinder Mahal's former stablemate from 3MB, Heath Slater, caught up with Wrestling Inc. to promote his new wrestling school and spoke at length about the Maharaja's loss. We bring you some excerpts.
In case you didn't know...
Jinder Mahal won the WWE Championship in May, much to the surprise and shock of the entire WWE Universe, and retained it for a whole of six months, dropping it only this week during WWE's tour of the United Kingdom to AJ Styles.
Mahal, who was supposed to take on Brock Lesnar in a match that pitted the champions of both brands against one another, will now be replaced by AJ Styles at Survivor Series 2017.
The heart of the matter
Heath Slater admitted that because of his schedule, he had not seen the title change hands, but had heard about it from different sources. This is what he had to say about the same:
WWE Champion for six months, heck yeah! I mean, why not? And he lost to 'The Phenomenal One'. As you know, AJ's great and I'm sure it was an awesome match. I will watch it. But yeah, it was a damn shame because I was hoping he would go for a year with it.
While most of the WWE Universe was surprised by the title changing hands on SmackDown Live, Heath Slater said that nothing surprised him anymore as anything could happen in WWE.
What's next?
We wonder when "The Maharaja will ask for his rematch, and if he will go on the forthcoming India tour as the champion or not!
Author's take
I watched the whole interview only a few hours ago and Slater is just a very likeable, nice guy. He's a man who's all about making the most of the opportunities he's been given. I wish him all the best.
