WWE News: Jinder Mahal says he is "The Guy", not Roman Reigns
What's the story?
Jinder Mahal was on Twitter for an AMA and was asked by a fan if he thought Roman Reigns was "The Guy" of WWE. He answered via a video reply on Twitter and he said that he was "The Guy" in WWE and not Roman Reigns.
In case you didn't know....
Jinder Mahal won the WWE Championship at Backlash in a match against Randy Orton and since then has ruled the roost on the Smackdown Live division. He was able to hold off Orton when he came for the WWE Title and then went on to defeat Shinsuke Nakamura twice as well.
Roman Reigns has spent a large part of 2017 in a feud with Braun Strowman, after he defeated The Undertaker at Wrestlemania. Recently, he joined together with Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose to reform Shield.
The heart of the matter
Roman Reigns was labelled "The Guy" early in 2016, and has had an extremely impressive run on the main roster. He defeated John Cena recently and it was almost like a passing of the torch moment, as Cena raised Roman's hand after the match was over.
Jinder Mahal has been extremely successful as champion, but he has not crossed with "The Big Dog" so far as the two have been on different brands.
When he was asked what he thought about Roman Reigns being "The Guy" in WWE, Mahal said that he is "The Guy" in the WWE as he is also the WWE Champion.
"Roman Reigns "The Guy" in WWE? How about The Modern Day Maharaja is "The Guy", because I am the WWE Champion."
Previously, in an interview, Jinder Mahal also said that Roman Reigns is one of two people he would like to face in a feud in the future.
What's next?
Jinder Mahal will return to Smackdown Live after a week of promoting the WWE Live India Tour.
This will be his first appearance on Smackdown Live since he defended his title against Nakamura, and may give clues as to his next feud, or what he will do at Survivor Series.
Author's take
Jinder Mahal may face Roman Reigns in a match in the future, as nothing is impossible in WWE, but he may have to wait a while.
Reigns and The Shield will take on Miz, Sheamus and Cesaro, and Braun Strowman at TLC. "The Big Dog" might come looking for Jinder later though, as he may not take the claim of his title as "The Guy" lightly.
