WWE News: John Cena and Nikki Bella to team up at huge WWE Live event

<p>
Nikki Bella and John Cena are set to team up yet again

What’s the story?

Everyone will remember what happened the last time Nikki Bella and John Cena teamed up in the ring - the 16-time World Champion got down on one knee.

While this time probably won't have quite the dramatic ending, it has been announced that the power couple will take to the ring again when WWE rolls up at Madison Square Garden on March 16th - and their opponents have been announced too.

In case you didn’t know…

John Cena and Nikki Bella teamed up for a brief spell last year on the build-up to their WrestleMania match against Miz and Maryse.

They teamed up against Carmella and James Ellsworth in the build-up to the match on SmackDown Live.

They had one more "match" when John Cena was in competition against Fandango and, ahem, "Breezy Bella" threatened to break up the pin. While the match was a singles match, Nikki Bella made Tyler Breeze... sorry, Breezy Bella, tap out simultaneously with Fandango.

The pair had been dating since 2012 and, amidst strong rumours that John Cena would never get married again, Cena proposed to Nikki after the match.

The latest season of Total Divas, however, had a trailer send shockwaves through the WWE Universe as Nikki and John appeared to be calling off their wedding in the clip - but John Cena recently addressed any rumours of trouble in paradise.

The heart of the matter

So, you can probably guess that their opponents will not be Miz and Maryse as Maryse is currently expecting their first child!

The opponents for John Cena and Nikki Bella have been announced, however, and they will be...

Elias and Bayley!

John Cena had been originally set to face Elias in one-on-one action at the event, but his soon-to-be wife will now be in his corner to face the Mixed Match Tag Team Challenge pairing.

In fact, the full card for the house show at MSG has undergone an overhaul and is now looking pretty stacked. The main event had originally been set as The Miz defending his Intercontinental Championship against Roman Reigns in a match that has now been completely scrapped.

Instead, the pair will compete in a six-man tag team match with The Miztourage taking on Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Finn Balor. Rollins and Balor have been paired together for house shows in the absence of Jason Jordan.

There will also be a Universal Championship defence at the event - as Brock Lesnar takes on both Kane and Braun Strowman in a rematch from the Royal Rumble.

The promo video for the event can be seen below.

What’s next?

John Cena and Elias will clash at Elimination Chamber, albeit in a match with four other Superstars, and you can expect that the 16-time World Champion will be out for revenge after The Drifter pinned him on WWE RAW to win the right to be the last of the six men to enter the Chamber.

Author’s take

Well, this card is looking like money! There's no doubt Cena was already a massive draw and Elias has been on fire recently - but Nikki Bella made her triumphant return in the first ever Women's Royal Rumble and even made it to the final two. Cena and Bella sell tickets purely on being there alone, but this should be a cool match for everyone in the building to see.

Add to that Balor becoming an honorary Shield member for one night and Brock Lesnar defending his title in a Royal Rumble rematch, and this show looks incredible!
