WWE News: John Cena discusses facing Roman Reigns in the future
What’s the story?
John Cena recently sat down with Justin Burasso of Sports Illustrated to promote his new movie “The Wall”. Roman Reigns was a major topic of the interview as Cena talked about a potential feud in the future. Cena would go on to say the following:
“I’ve made a career of shutting the mouths of people who’ve made that claim that WWE was their yard. I very, very much look forward to the day we put that to the test.”
In case you didn’t know...
Speaking of movies, the very first movie that Cena appeared in was the 2000 wrestling movie Ready To Rumble starring David Arquette. Six years later, Cena would star in the very first instalment of The Marine from WWE Studios.
The heart of the matter...
Though they have been in the same ring, Reigns and Cena have never had a full-blown feud. Cena’s words in the Sports Illustrated interview sound like a promo in a way which has prompted speculation all over the internet that the dream feud could be a reality.
Cena would say that the run that Reigns is currently having was similar to his from 2006 to 2008. Reigns’ performance and ability to draw a crowd response are proof of being an elite-level performer according to Cena.
What’s next?
Roman Reigns is left without an opponent as Strowman was written off TV owing to an injury. As for John Cena, it is unknown when he will make his return to Smackdown Live. The return may happen leading up to Money In The Bank, as filming wraps up for “The Pact” on June 9th.
Author’s take...
I think a feud with Reigns and Cena would be very interesting. They could use the Royal Rumble just like they did with Reigns and Undertaker last year or Kurt Angle and Shawn Michaels in the first brand split. The fallout leads to a match at WrestleMania.
