WWE News: John Cena gets emotional on Raw Talk after No Mercy
John Cena started off his interview on Raw Talk saying he hoped he doesn't get the show cancelled because he was the last guest on Talking Smack.
Then he poked fun at the fact that the Raw Talk set was set up in what was previously the catering area which was a fun little tidbit. Cena thanked them for turning off the ice machines before getting to more important subject matters.
He said he was hard on Roman Reigns and that was by design. He said his job in WWE is to be the best or to be a vehicle for the best and he wanted to bring it out of Reigns. He said the Big Dog needed to bring out that something extra while praising Roman Reigns for doing just that.
Cena said it's not tough to go against guys who are trying to take his spot. He said every time he's called on he puts his heart and soul into it. Then he said Reigns lacks the ability to dig deep and compared it to the last time he was in the ring with The Miz. But Cena admitted Roman Reigns brought it to No Mercy.
Cena said Reigns earned his respect then Renee Young brought up how the end of the match was reminiscent of what transpired after The Undertaker's match at WrestleMania 33.
John Cena said sitting in the same building where he won the title many years ago it was a surreal moment for him. Cena said he's "WWE first" and it makes him feel very good that he can believe in WWE's future.
Cena said he was proud of Roman Reigns after the match and there's no shame in failing because you learn from failure. However, Cena wouldn't reveal what he said to Reigns after the match was over.
John Cena started to break up a little bit and became tearful as he spoke about transitions being tough. He said he was proud to say he lost to a better man at No Mercy and the future of the company is in good hands.
Cena said for years people said they couldn't see him but with fifteen years of experience in WWE, he doesn't know how much longer he can keep it up. He said he's not done but doesn't know how much longer he can keep going at the pace he's been going.
John Cena said he'll be "like a weird Batman character" so when they shine the Cena Symbol in the sky he'll come running. But he didn't actually say he was going away for a hiatus although he did allude to the fact that he might need to go on vacation.
"It's been a wonderful four weeks to watch Roman mature and I was in there with him tonight. He's a stud, he's a Superstar."
Cena said if there is such a thing as a torch being passed that Roman Reigns stepped up at No Mercy and took it. Cena said he's proud of Reigns and hopes he can keep that passion and fire.
Cena said the sky's the limit for Roman Reigns as he said he didn't need to say anything to the WWE Superstars but he did take time to thank the WWE Universe for allowing him to do what he's done for as long as he has.
Cena concluded by saying: "I'm not gone but things are changing for me."
