WWE News: John Cena interested in an alternative to WWE?
John Cena's career is on its last legs and it is evident by the number dates he gets booked for in a year. His infrequent appearances have not only added brand value to the product but also his image which was dwindling at a rapid rate. This could be the reason the WWE superstar is looking for gigs that could replace pro-wrestling.
TMZ caught up with John Cena and asked him if he would be interested in co-hosting a gig for 'Live With Kelly' if the opportunity presented itself. He optimistically replied, “I'll answer the phone but I'm not going to sit by the phone. It's really cool to sit down with a suit and tie in the morning and then fly to SmackDown Live and be a WWE superstar.”

If Cena is offered the spot, it would mean even less time on WWE. That would imply he would only appear on specific PPVs and maybe some other major events. This would surely add a lot more novelty value to his image than what he is already getting now.
John Cena might be at the twilight of his career in WWE but he has a lot to look forward outside the ring now too.
Post his triple threat match at WWE No Mercy against AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose, Cena will be taking a hiatus till the end of December to film the second season of American Grit.
He is counted in the elite club of wrestlers who have kept the brand name at an all time high, drawn massive crowds and made sure new talent has received the adequate push. Cena's image of ' Hustle, Loyalty, Respect' has been one of the main attractions for young fans and has taken the brand in nooks and corners of the world.
He will surely back for the WrestleMania season and will hopefully take part in the Royal Rumble which will happen in January too. At the moment, the WWE is looking at two alternatives to book his return. He will either battle it out against The Undertaker or will win the WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania to equal Ric Flair's record of 16th WWE World Title win.
Cena's role in the coming year has to well be planned, allowing his career to fade out rather slowly and gracefully and for that his appearances will be kept infrequent and Cena won't enjoy the 'successful superstar' image that the WWE Universe has grown averse of.
