WWE News: John Cena lands new role as quiz show host
What's the story?
Wrestler, actor, awards show presenter, philanthropist, New York Times #1 Best Selling Author - and now John Cena can add 'quiz show host' to his ever-growing repertoire after it was announced today that he'd be presenting the new series of 'Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader?'.
In case you didn't know...
In September, John Cena became a New York Times Best Selling author following the success of Elbow Grease - of which he announced the sequel for earlier this week - signalling that less of his time may be spent in a WWE ring.
Elbow Grease follows a monster truck named Elbow Grease, who’s the runt of his mechanical litter and feels out of place, especially compared to his four older brothers, and is inspired by Cena’s own experiences, as he grew up with his four elder brothers in West Newbury, Massachusetts.
Speaking to Mashable, Cena said:
“With Elbow Grease and the books to follow, I want to offer kids a fun and engaging way to learn about the power of ambition, dedication, and heart. These concepts have been transformative in my life…so important to me to pass the positivity on and help our youngest generation see that right mindset is key to achievement.”
The heart of the matter
In an interview with Variety, Nickelodeon President Brian Robbins spoke about the new lineup of programming he’s been working on - confirming that 'Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?' would be returning with John Cena at the helm.
