WWE News: John Cena on the future of his in-ring career
What’s the story?
In a recent appearance on Popcorn with Peter Travers, John Cena opened up on a myriad of topics.
Cena asserted that he’s indeed planning about what comes in his career after wrestling. Besides, the Cenation Leader also compared his run in WWE to that of pro-football legend Tom Brady.
In case you didn’t know…
Cena has been a top star since the early-2000s, having shouldered the responsibility of being the face of WWE until the role was taken over from him by Roman Reigns in recent years.
Cena has previously reiterated that his days as an active in-ring competitor may be winding down, which in turn has led to widespread speculation in the professional wrestling community as to how long Cena plans on wrestling inside the squared circle.
The heart of the matter
John Cena emphasised that he’s indeed giving serious thought to what comes next in his career after wrestling.
Cena likened his WWE career path to that of NFL legend Tom Brady; stating—
"The fact that I've been able to do it at the pace that I have for 16 years, that's not your regular statistic…That falls into like the Tom Brady category. I'm not supposed to be where I am anyway. So I don't know when it's all going to end."
Furthermore, Cena alluded that he’s likely to take things step-by-step, as regards his in-ring WWE future.
What’s next?
Cena recently lost to The Undertaker at WrestleMania 34.
The Cenation Leader is expected to stay off WWE television in the weeks to come; however, despite his busy Hollywood schedule, the 16-time World Champion continues to find time to compete as a part-time Superstar.
Author’s take
Cena is perhaps one of the most honest, hard-working and humble people one could possibly meet.
He is spot-on with his analysis, in the sense that seldom does a WWE Superstar stay at the very top of the food chain for as long as he has done.
Cena’s success simply goes to show that discipline and passion do indeed separate a person from his/her contemporaries.
