WWE News: John Cena reveals new venture
What's the story?
Wrestler, actor, presenter, philanthropist. Love John Cena or hate him, you have to respect his drive and determination to be the best at everything he does, and put all his effort into everything.
Whether it be breaking records as the 16-time World Champion alongside Ric Flair, or even more impressively holding the record for most wishes granted for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the man gives it his all.
Well, it turns out that John Cena will be embarking on a new adventure soon, writing children's books!
In case you didn't know...
John Cena has already been incredibly busy both inside and outside the ring this year.
From entering the Royal Rumble Match to now participating in the Men's Elimination Chamber, it doesn't look like Mr. Hustle Loyalty Respect is taking too much of a back seat in WWE - even though he's been confirmed to host the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards for the second year running and also provided the voice of Ferdinand in the hit film of the same name.
The heart of the matter
Today, John Cena took to Twitter to confirm his latest conquest - Elbow Grease!
The 40-year-old has put pen to paper and his first release will hit shelves in October - tackling themes of dedication and adversity.
According to Mashable, the book follows a Monster Truck named Elbow Grease who’s the runt of his mechanical litter and feels out of place, especially compared to his four older brothers. The story is said to be an inspirational tale that sees Elbow Grease prove to everyone that, no matter what obstacles are in his way, he has “the guts, grit, and gumption to do big things”.
The book is inspired by Cena’s own experiences, as he grew up with his four older brothers in West Newbury, Massachusetts.
Speaking to Mashable, Cena said:
“With Elbow Grease and the books to follow, I want to offer kids a fun and engaging way to learn about the power of ambition, dedication, and heart. These concepts have been transformative in my life…so important to me to pass the positivity on and help our youngest generation see that right mindset is key to achievement.”
A representative from Random House Children’s Books added that Cena’s trademark “sense of humor and scrappiness” will shine through and that the books can be enjoyed by people of all ages.
What's next?
For John Cena, the Elimination Chamber is his chance to go to WrestleMania to compete for the WWE Universal Championship against Brock Lesnar - but he faces stiff competition from a man who pinned him last night in Elias, former foe Miz, Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman and the winner of next week's Fatal 4-Way Match. As for Elbow Grease, it's scheduled to hit stores in October.
Author's take
He may be polarising but I have immense respect for John Cena, both in-ring and his charity work - not to mention his drive to be a huge actor and personality outside of WWE. Cena does everything possible to be an incredible role model and he doesn't get enough praise for it. This new book looks like it will only reinforce Big Match John as being just as big an inspiration and I can't wait to pick up a copy!
