WWE News : John Cena advertised for Christmas RAW
What's the story
It seems John Cena comes and goes as he pleases nowadays as he tries his best to fit WWE into his busy schedule of extracurricular activities in the world of entertainment. WWE is pulling a big move as they prepare to hold a Raw live on Christmas Day and the Chicago event needs as much help as it can get.
This is probably why John Cena got a call and is now scheduled to appear on the Christmas Day Raw broadcast.
In case you didn't know
Christmas and Thanksgiving used to be two of the biggest days of the year for pro wrestlers. It was rare that anyone in the business could get a full holiday with their families due to this popular time to hold a pro wrestling event.
WWE hasn't staged events on Christmas for a while now but it seems like they're dusting off this old tradition this year.
Heart of the matter...
According to WWE's website, there are plenty of popular Superstars scheduled to appear at the Christmas Day Raw show. Kurt Angle, Kane, Sheamus, Cesaro, Alexa Bliss, Samoa Joe, The Miz, Braun Strowman, Finn Balor, Bray Wyatt, Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns, and John Cena are all scheduled to be on the show.
It's notable that both John Cena and The Miz will be on the show. But Super Cena's inclusion is certainly going to sell some extra tickets if history is any determining factor of the situation.
What's next
John Cena will continue to appear for WWE whenever he can, but he's got a lot of projects lined up. Not only does he have some exciting movies in the pipeline, but his television projects and other obligations also keep him very busy.
However, even though he'll always be a WWE Superstar at heart this Christmas Day appearance might just be a one-off deal until Cena's next longer program rolls around.
Author's take
Christmas Day is going to be a rough show for the Superstars because they'll be away from their families. I can only hope that WWE will make it up to them with some outstanding catering at least. This might prove to be a gamble for WWE in all reality.
But with John Cena on the show, they've got a huge name lined up that could move the needle as far as the interest is concerned. Let's just hope that this Christmas Day broadcasting experiment pays off.
