WWE News: John Cena says he will never leave or retire from the WWE
What’s the story?
16-time World Champion John Cena was recently interviewed by TMZ.com where he claimed that he will never part ways with the WWE because he considers Vince McMahon’s company as his “family”.
In case you didn’t know…
Cena was first signed by WWE in the year 2000 when he first started wrestling under WWE’s developmental territory Ohio Valley Wrestling. Cena made his television debut in the year 2002 and since then has been a vital part of the company, winning numerous championships during his 15 years in the WWE.
Earlier this year, Cena defeated AJ Styles and captured his 16th World Championship, equaling Ric Flair’s record. Since then he has lost the title and has become a free agent, which means that he is allowed to work for both Smackdown Live and Monday Night Raw.
Alongside AJ Styles, the former US Champion also faced the likes of Shinsuke Nakamura, Baron Corbin, Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns this year.
The heart of the matter
During his interview with TMZ, Cena claimed that he would never retire from WWE because this company is like family to him.
Cena and his fiancée Nikki Bella were spotted leaving Craig’s in Los Angeles after Nikki’s “Dancing with the Stars” performance when the former World Champion was questioned regarding his future. Cena responded by saying he is never going to leave WWE, because that’s where his heart will always be, no matter how big it gets.
John Cena has many options apart from WWE; he has been getting offers to host various TV shows as well as star in movies.
What’s next?
Cena has been killing it both inside and outside of WWE, he may be 40 years old but he still remains as a rising star. He was last seen on TV at No Mercy after he lost to Roman Reigns but it has been speculated that Cena might be scheduled to work this year’s Survivor Series.
The report also suggests that Cena might get into a feud with Bray Wyatt and there are chances that “The Eater of Worlds” and the “Leader of The Cenation” could face off once again, this time at Survivor Series, 2017.
Author’s take
John Cena could easily walk away from the WWE and focus more on his Hollywood career, but it is great to see Cena acknowledging and staying loyal to the company where it all began for him.
