WWE News: John Cena to officiate dream wedding on the TODAY show

Thankfully, you WILL be able to see him at your dream wedding
Thankfully, you will be able to see him at the wedding

What's the story?

John Cena is always making news, wherever he goes. Unfortunately, these days, the news pertains more to the world of entertainment, than sports entertainment.

One lucky couple will get a chance to have their wedding officiated by the biggest star in modern day WWE history. The couple would be married live on air, on Kathie Lee and Hoda Kotb's show.

In case you didn't know...

Having been WWE's biggest star over the last decade, John Cena has successfully transitioned his momentum into a career in Hollywood.

As a star of many mainstream movies in the recent past, John Cena has become a crossover figure, much in the vein of fellow superstars such as The Rock and Batista.

He is constantly featured on popular TV shows because of his massive crossover appeal, and this dream wedding is just one of the many projects that Cena is involved with.

The heart of the matter

This is the official announcement made by the show, on their website:

TODAY has been throwing dream weddings for more than a decade now, and this year will be extra special.
We've teamed up with Zola, a company that aims to simplify wedding planning, offering free wedding websites, your dream registry, and more, to help the winning couple tie the knot on our show.

It goes on to mention the bonus attraction for the event:

The fun doesn't stop there! Viewers at home will have a chance to vote on everything from the cake and the ring to the dress and the honeymoon, and so much more. Bonus: WWE legend John Cena has agreed to officiate the wedding!

Details on how to send in entries for the event follow.

What's next?

Cena should be back in time for a Mania program, but it's not clear when he's back or what it is. Rumours abound, but there's no concrete plan with regard to Cena, as of now. One thing is certain...he's definitely going to remain a Hollywood mainstay.

Author's take

I really don't have a take on Cena's exploits outside the ring. I don't care much about the world of entertainment and cinema.

WWE certainly does, as they tweeted this out from their Twitter account!
