WWE News: Johnny Gargano shows up at Tommaso Ciampa's house
What’s the story?
The WWE has posted a video on its official YouTube channel, wherein Johnny Gargano appears outside Tommaso Ciampa’s home.
Ciampa simply spoke about not wanting to have anything to do with Gargano, as the latter tried to break into his house.
In case you didn’t know…
Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa performed as a team for the WWE’s NXT brand since 2015.
As a team, #DIY, Gargano, and Ciampa went on to capture the NXT Tag Team Championships.
The heart of the matter
Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa lost their NXT Tag Team titles to The Authors of Pain early last year, and after consecutive failed attempts at recapturing the titles, Ciampa turned heel, attacking Gargano after their loss at NXT TakeOver: Chicago in May of last year.
While Ciampa subsequently suffered a knee injury and was on the shelf for several months, he returned at NXT Takeover: Philadelphia in January of this year, attacking Gargano with a crutch.
Furthermore, in February, Ciampa interfered in a ‘Career vs Title’ matchup between NXT Champion Andrade 'Cien' Almas and Gargano, resulting in the latter failing to win the title and having to quit NXT.
While Gargano recently tried to attack Ciampa, almost dragging the latter out of his vehicle, Gargano seems to have followed through on his promise to beat down his former best friend, showing up at Ciampa’s house and banging on the door.
What’s next?
The vast majority of professional wrestling experts believe that despite having to ‘quit’ NXT, Johnny Gargano will compete against Tommaso Ciampa at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans that airs from the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana on April 7th.
Author’s take
Kudos to Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa for expertly maintaining kayfabe over the course of what has been a highly intriguing feud.
Gargano’s ring psychology is excellent, as is that of Ciampa, and the NXT Universe hereby looks forward to their match at next month’s TakeOver event.
