What's the story?

Well, it's been said for a while that we may be seeing the last few glimpses of Kane in a WWE ring as The Big Red Machine has comfortably transitioned into the role of Mayor of Knox County.

However, last night, Kane appeared at WWE's Live event in his constituency completely out of character - and later called it "his proudest moment in a WWE ring."

In case you didn't know...

The Big Red Machine has been used sparingly ever since Glenn Jacobs, the man behind the mask, announced he'd be running for Mayor of Knox County. While we have seen Kane in a WWE ring, it's always been under a mask - with Jacobs even scrambling for his mask when it came off accidentally at WWE Crown Jewel.

Speaking on Talk Is Jericho, before his appointment, to speak with Chris Jericho about his mayoral campaign in a live special recorded in Knoxville, Jacobs revealed that he would be hanging up his boots if successfully elected.

"No, I can't. Mayor is a full time job and I would direct all my attention to that."

Kane has been appearing sparingly since, but it's a rare sight when The Big Red Machine appears in a WWE ring.

The heart of the matter

Last night, Kane appeared in a WWE ring in a way he never has before - as Glenn Jacobs.

The reason? Well, to surprise Knoxville with a cheque for $100,000! You can see the video below where an out of character Kane appears in the ring to address the WWE Universe.

Kane later took to Twitter to call the moment his "proudest in a WWE ring."

What's next?

Will we see Kane compete in a WWE ring ever again? Who knows, but this was something special for both Jacobs and those in attendance.
