WWE News: Karl Anderson explains when he found out about The Hardy Boyz WWE return
What’s the story?
WWE Superstar Karl Anderson explained when he found out about the WWE return of the Hardy Boyz, in a recent interview with USA Today’s For The Win section.
In case you didn’t know...
Matt and Jeff Hardy made a surprise return to WWE at Wrestlemania 33, defeating the teams of Enzo and Cass, Cesaro and Sheamus as well as Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows for the RAW tag-team championships.
Most fans had a fair bit of inkling before Mania about the Hardys’ potential WWE return however, in case you haven’t been following Sportskeeda’s rumors section, you may have been surprised at seeing Matt and Jeff make their WWE comeback earlier this month on the grandest stage of them all.
The heart of the matter:
WWE had reportedly kept the Hardy Boyz comeback under wraps, and despite several rumors alluding to their comeback at Mania, the promotion never sent out a confirmation regarding the same. Karl Anderson revealed that he was just as much in the dark as the fans…well, almost.
The 37-year old ‘Club’ member stated that he received word of the Hardys being added to the ladder match for the RAW Tag-Team titles barely a couple of hours before they had to work the match. Here are a few excerpts from his statements regarding the same:
“We found out a couple of hours before we had to work. At the end of the day, Jeff and Matt Hardy helped make the WWE tag team division what it is. The ladder tag team matches they had at WrestleMania in the past made those matches famous.”
Anderson added:
“Being in there at WrestleMania with Matt and Jeff Hardy was an honour in itself. It was a great moment to be part of it and I’m glad we got that.”
Besides, it has also been revealed that WWE commentator Corey Graves was just as much in the dark as the fans, as he had no idea of the Hardys competing at Mania until the time their music hit.
What’s next?
Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows will compete against Enzo and Cass in a Tag-Team match this Sunday at WWE Payback. Meanwhile, the Hardy Boyz will defend their RAW tag-team championships against Cesaro and Sheamus at the same event.
Author’s take:
The Hardys coming back to WWE has been one of the best things in our sport this month and was one of the more ‘Feel Good’ moments of Wrestlemania 33.
Here’s hoping to several great matchups between the Hardy Boyz and the Club in the days to come.
