WWE News: Ken Anderson blames his WWE release on John Cena
Former WWE Superstar, Ken Anderson, has put the blame on John Cena for ending his tenure in WWE. Anderson was released from the company in May 2009, after Randy Orton complained to Vince McMahon about a botched backdrop during their match.
Reportedly, Orton could have suffered a career-threatening injury, as he had landed on his head and neck instead of on his back.
According to Ken, Orton sought John Cena’s help to complain about the issue. McMahon has been known in the past to trust Cena, so when he supported Orton regarding Anderson being a dangerous in-ring worker, the decision became easier to make.
However, Anderson claims that his release from WWE was a ‘hit job’ and he was falsely accused:
"I was accused of dropping [Orton] on his head. You can watch that video in slow motion, high definition, and you can see that his neck never even comes into contact with the [canvas]. He lands as flat as flat can be.”
Anderson revealed that he had seen the shadow of Orton’s neck on the canvas after slowing down the footage.
However, Orton claimed to have seen the footage with the then WWE Talent Relations head, John Lauranitis and insisted that he had landed on his neck. He also commented that it was clearly visible when viewed from a certain angle.
The situation went in favour of the 12-time World Champion, and Anderson was released from WWE.
Ken Anderson was an active member of the WWE roster between 2005-09. In fact, he won the third ever Money In The Bank contract match but lost his opportunity to cash it in after an encounter with Edge.
He joined TNA in 2010, where he held the TNA World Championship on two different occasions.
