WWE News: Kenny Omega comments on Daniel Bryan being cleared to return to the ring
What's the story?
Wrestling Inc. is reporting on an appearance that Kenny Omega made on the With Spandex Podcast in the promotion of Strong Style Evolved coming up in the United States this weekend. Within the interview, the clearance of Daniel Bryan came up and Omega shared his thoughts.
In case you didn't know...
In 2008 and 2009, Daniel Bryan (as Bryan Danielson) and Kenny Omega crossed paths three times.
At Ring Of Honor's Bound By Hate in 2008, Danielson defeated Omega and Tyler Black (Seth Rollins) in a triple threat match. These two met in another triple threat match at ROH Instantly Unleashed in 2009 but, were defeated by Claudio Castagnoli (Cesaro).
The last time Danielson and Omega met was in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's PWG One Hundred in April of 2009 where Bryan would come out victorious.
The heart of the matter
When asked about the great news that the WWE released on Tuesday afternoon that Daniel Bryan is cleared for in-ring competition after being forced to retire two years ago, Omega called it one of the "feel good stories of the year." He also mentioned that there isn't a single person in the business who is disappointed with this news.
Omega added the following:
"I wish him all the best. I mean, you always hope that as a fellow performer that he doesn't push himself too hard too soon, because I think even the fans now, they want to see him happy and healthy, and they want to see the Daniel Bryan they know and love doing what he loves in the ring, and whatever it is that he does at WrestleMania, I hope it goes off really well, without a hitch, and that he has the time of his life, and the crowd there enjoys it."
Omega mentioned that Bryan is one of the guys he's had the privilege of wrestling and the moments he had in the ring with Bryan are ones that he'll never forget. Omega also added that if this is going to be a full-time return he "wouldn't mind running into him again" for what would truly be a dream match.
What's next?
New Japan Pro Wrestling's second ever special in the United States takes place this Sunday, March 25th when Strong Style Evolved airs live on AXS TV from Long Beach, California. The main event will be a spectacular one, as The Golden Lovers (Omega & Kota Ibushi) will take on The Young Bucks.
Author's take
I reported on a WWE article from yesterday that listed dream matches for Daniel Bryan now that he's back, I think Kenny Omega tops all of those except for maybe Nakamura because that has NEVER happened in a one-on-one match or Balor as they have never been in the ring for any sort of match ever.
It's wishful thinking, but if a year from now the clearance of Daniel Bryan brings Kenny Omega to the WWE for WrestleMania 35, we'll be in for a treat that we will never forget.
