Former WWE/WCW/TNA star, Kevin Nash, recently participated in a sit-down interview with Justin Barrasso of SI.com. The Superstar discussed his first stint in WWE, which lasted from 1993-1996, the state of wrestling business in 1996 and WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.

When asked about the situation of wrestling in the late 90's, Big Daddy Cool, Diesel said,

“At that point, wrestling was dying. The Hulkamania era was over for Vince, and he was looking for the next big thing.
A lot of his guys were working as occupations.”

Nash further added, that there were just a couple of 'Stars' in WWE/WWF at that moment, and rest of them portrayed characters with real life jobs such as a pig farmer, a plumber and a dentist.

While Nash mentioned his desire to stay in WWE, he wanted a hike in pay. However, McMahon was unwilling to do so, as WWE/WWF was a private company at that time.
Therefore, Nash made the difficult decision of signing with his former employees and arch nemesis of WWE, WCW.

Nash went on to explain his predicament and noted that his wife, Tamara, was pregnant, and both of them were living year-to-year wondering if Nash would get a big payday, after Wrestlemania.

After switching to WCW, Nash got a big contract and earned a minimum of $850,000, while working for 180 days, instead of the 300-day workload he had to endure under WWE.

Kevin further emphasised on the extensive workload by saying that in those days, wrestlers would find out that their kid took their first step, over the phone and then they had to travel right away to some city for some wrestling match. Nash did not want his life to end up like that and therefore joined WCW.
