WWE News: Kevin Owens calls out pre-show panellist for lack of Indy Wrestling knowledge

What's the story?

It seems that the recent signings of former Ring Of Honor Tag Team Champions War Machine has managed to excite more than just the WWE Universe. WWE pre-show panellist Pete Rosenberg was so excited about the signing that he tweeted without thinking and made the huge mistake of dragging Kevin Owens into the problems that this created.

In case you didn't know..

Pete Rosenberg is quite a well-known face around the wrestling world as the host of Hot 97 and is often brought in by WWE to be part of their kickoff show panels ahead of pay-per-views, where he seemingly appears when Sam Roberts isn't available.

Rosenberg is obviously a man who has followed WWE quite closely over the past few decades, but he's someone who doesn't often follow the Independent Circuit and that may have been one of his biggest downfalls.

War Machine were signed to the WWE Performance Centre officially last week after weeks of speculation and it seems that they're about to change the landscape of the NXT Tag Team Division moving forward.

The heart of the matter

Rather than researching the team before he Tweeted about their arrival, Rosenberg made the huge mistake of sending a Tweet out where he revealed that he thought War Machine was one person.

Wrestling fans obviously reacted to this and Rosenberg then played on the fact that he doesn't have time to watch Independent shows, before tagging Kevin Owens into a Tweet where he mentioned that the former Universal Champion had said that he didn't watch NJPW which means that he must not love wrestling.

This obviously backfired on him since Owens in typical style pointed out the fact that it wasn't his job to watch Independent Wrestling, but it was in Pete's job description.

What's next?

It is unknown where War Machine will fit into WWE's plans moving forward, but Kevin Owens is set to fight alongside Sami Zayn for the WWE Championship next weekend at the Royal Rumble, whilst Pete Rosenberg could be the man that WWE decide to have on their kickoff panel, which could make it even more interesting.

Author's take

Pete's biggest mistake was probably to tag Kevin Owens into the Tweet. He is notorious for ripping people apart on Twitter and when Pete had already basically disrespected Ring of Honor, a place where Owens found his feet, there was no way he was going to be on his side. Perhaps the best lesson Pete can learn from this is to not Tweet before he's done some research which is exactly what Journalists are taught from day one anyway.
