What's the story?

Following the unprecedented turn of events at Fastlane, former WWE Intercontinental Champion Kevin Owens took to Twitter and addressed the controversial interference by SmackDown commissioner Shane McMahon during the 6-pack WWE Championship match.

In case you didn't know...

Since late 2017, Kevin Owens and Shane McMahon have had their fair share of differences, following Owens' controversial win over the latter at last year's Hell in a Cell pay-per-view.

Owens' best friend Sami Zayn, has also played a huge role in this feud and initially helped the former WWE US Champion to beat Shane at HIAC last year.

The heart of the matter

At Fastlane, WWE Champion AJ Styles successfully defended his title belt against five other men - in the form of Baron Corbin, John Cena, Dolph Ziggler, Sami Zayn, and Kevin Owens. Owens eventually took the fall for Styles after "The Phenomenal One" connected with a Phenomenal Forearm for the three count and the win.

However, as noted, at one point of the match, WWE SmackDown Live commissioner Shane McMahon interfered in the match and cost both Owens and Zayn a chance to win the WWE Championship after interrupting their pinfall attempts at different points of the contest.

Following the turn of events at the Nationwide Arena, Owens claimed that he should've been the rightful WWE Champion.

He also had a snide comment to make about Shane McMahon being backstage during RAW.

What's next?

Owens and Shane O'Mac's feud has certainly been stretched and it'll be interesting to note how this story eventually unfolds, with WrestleMania 34 just four weeks away.

Author's Take

The rumor going around is that Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn will participate in this year's Andre The Giant Battle Royal. However, I hope that we instead get a proper conclusion to the Shane McMahon vs Kevin Owens rivalry at The Grandest Stage of Them All, later next month.
