WWE News: Kevin Owens explains why he attacked AJ Styles on RAW
Kevin Owens appeared at the end of the October 21 episode of WWE RAW to attack AJ Styles at ringside, allowing The Street Profits to pick up a victory over Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson in their first main-roster match.
Street Profits duo Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford teased earlier in the show that their mystery partner in a six-man tag team match against The O.C. “hated AJ Styles” as much as they do.
However, the main event ended up being a regular tag team match instead, with Dawkins & Ford facing Gallows & Anderson (w/Styles), while Owens hit “The Phenomenal One” with a Stunner in the closing stages of the match to prevent him from interfering.
Speaking to WWE.com after RAW, Owens explained that nobody “despises” Styles in the same way that he does, which is why he decided to get involved in the main event.
“Here’s the thing: I knew they [The Street Profits] needed back-up and, while they are right, I strongly dislike AJ Styles, they’re probably wrong when they say they dislike him as much as me, because you’d be hard-pressed to find somebody who despises AJ Styles the way I do.”
The former Universal Champion went on to explain that the night was all about The Street Profits, and he only wanted to get involved in the match at the moment when Styles tried to interfere.
“AJ Styles made sure they needed me by sticking his nose in their business, so you know what? AJ is going to stick his nose in their business? I’ll gladly try to break his nose.”
What’s next for Kevin Owens in WWE?
Kevin Owens did not appear at WWE’s last event in Saudi Arabia, Super ShowDown, and he is not currently advertised to compete at Crown Jewel on October 31.
Moving forward, it appears that he will revive his feud with AJ Styles over the United States Championship – a title that both men fought over for several months on SmackDown in the summer of 2017.
