WWE News: Kevin Owens training with top NXT superstar ahead of his in-ring return
What's the story?
Ahead of his highly awaited return to WWE TV, former Universal Champion Kevin Owens has been training with a familiar face, top NXT superstar Adam Cole, someone with whom he has already shared the ring with in the past.
In case you didn't know...
Kevin Owens' last appearance on Raw took place several months ago when the former NXT Champion was absolutely brutalized by current WWE Intercontinental Champion Bobby Lashley, on an episode of Monday Night Raw.
Following Lashley's brutal beating, Owens was seemingly sidelined in kayfabe and was eventually written off WWE TV in order to get surgery on both of his knees, keeping him out of action for the rest of 2018.
The heart of the matter
Kevin Owens is currently on the verge of a huge return to WWE TV and ahead of his return to in-ring competition, the former Universal Champion has also undergone an appearance change.
Having not wrestled since last October, Owens recently took it to his Twitter handle and revealed that he is apparently one step closer to his return to in-ring competition. He noted on social media that he recently wrestled his former nemesis and close friend Adam Cole for the first time in four years.
Owens and Cole have previously shared the ring with each other on several occasions, however, this match was rather more of a rehabilitation match, compared to the brutal matches they have had in the past.
What's next?
With WWE recently teasing both Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn's return by featuring a few vignettes during Raw, it now looks like the former is definitely one step closer to returning to action.
However, judging by the current WWE product, it is likely that WWE will be bringing Owens back to television after WrestleMania 35 and then eventually put him in an interesting storyline on Raw.
As for Adam Cole, he is all but focused on his upcoming six-man tag team match at Halftime Heat.
