What's the story?

Kofi Kingston has won the WWE Universe's hearts following his two magnificent performances at the pre-Elimination Chamber Gauntlet Match and at Elimination Chamber as well.

During tonight's episode of SmackDown Live, the New Day member earned a singles WWE Title shot against Daniel Bryan and in a post- SmackDown interview, Kingston commented on his upcoming title match at Fastlane.

In case you didn't know...

At the recently concluded Elimination Chamber pay-per-view, Kofi Kingston lasted over 30 minutes in his WWE Championship match against the likes of Daniel Bryan, Jeff Hardy, Samoa Joe, Randy Orton, and AJ Styles.

Having eliminated Randy Orton from the match, Kingston almost came close to securing the title, dethroning Daniel Bryan as the champion. However, despite a valiant effort from the former WWE Tag Team Champion, Bryan was able to retain his Planet's WWE Championship.

The heart of the matter

On tonight's episode of SmackDown Live, Kofi Kingston teamed up with two unfamiliar allies, as he along with Jeff Hardy and AJ Styles defeated the trio of Samoa Joe, Randy Orton, and WWE Champion, Daniel Bryan.

Kingston, following his six-man tag team win, was interviewed backstage by Sarah Schreiber who asked the former US Champion about his reactions prior to his WWE Championship match against Daniel Bryan at Fastlane.

As per Kingston's comments, he stated that he cannot make any guarantees regarding him possibly walking out with the WWE Championship, however, Kingston did claim that he has been ready for 11 years for an opportunity like this and he is more than just hyped.

"I can't make any guarantees. But what I said before is, when you stay ready, you ain't got to get ready, and I've been ready for a long time. 11 years, Sarah. 11 years. I've been waiting for opportunities like this. Words cannot even describe how hyped I am right now. All my life, all I've ever wanted was a shot, a chance. Finally, at Fastlane, I'm going to get that chance one more time, and I can't wait."
