WWE News: Kurt Angle opens up on several WrestleMania matches
What's the story?
During his latest Facebook Q and A session, RAW General Manager Kurt Angle discussed numerous topics as he tried to interact with fans on his social media page.
The most interesting subjects Angle was questioned on included John Cena vs. The Undertaker and Asuka vs. Charlotte at WrestleMania 34, the chances of him wrestling after WrestleMania 34 and The Shield reuniting.
In case you didn't know...
Kurt Angle is currently the RAW General Manager.
The Hall of Famer and 6-time World Champion is going to be tag-teaming with new WWE star Ronda Rousey against Triple H and Stephanie McMahon in a mixed-tag match at WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans on April 8th.
At the event, SmackDown Women's Champion Charlotte is going to be taking on RAW Superstar Asuka for her title, after the Japanese star decided to face Flair rather than RAW Women's Champion Alexa Bliss.
It looks like we are going to get to see the dream match between John Cena and The Undertaker at WM 34, with WWE building up to the match by having Cena challenge The Deadman (conspiracy theorists think it will be 'The American Badass' Undertaker who returns after his loss to Roman Reigns at WM 33).
The heart of the matter
When queried about whether or not John Cena vs. The Undertaker will be as big of a match if it happens at this year's WrestleMania as opposed to if it took place eight years ago, Kurt seemed more than sure that it will be just as huge, reasoning that Cena and Taker have not 'lost the respect' of fans over the years and 'they both can still go':
In response to an enquiry about his thoughts regarding Charlotte vs. Asuka for the SmackDown Women's Championship, Angle iterated that he believed they could 'steal the show', and should not be underestimated by the WWE Universe:
According to the Olympic Gold Medalist, The Shield (Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins) getting back together in the future, after an injury to Ambrose interfered with there reunion, is an inevitability.
Angle also forecasted that Braun Strowman will be a Champion sooner rather than later:
Of course, like many WWE fans, Kurt thinks Kenny Omega would be a 'cool' addition to the company from the indies:
The rest of the Q and A can be found at this link, with Kurt's remarks about his favourite actor, Christian Band, as well as his WrestleMania 34 preparation.
What's next?
Kurt responded humorously, but more importantly, positively, when he was asked about whether he would be competing in a WWE ring again after his match at WM 34:
For now, though, he will be focusing on teaming Ronda Rousey to take down The Authority at The Grandest Stage of Them All.
Author's take
Even just from a social media interaction with his fans, Kurt Angle's genius for wrestling is undeniable.
Specifically, Kurt was spot on with what he said about Undertaker and John Cena because all though some have their doubts, people love and respect both men in the bout and it will be awesome.
And Asuka vs. Charlotte could definitely be a show-stealer if given half the chance.
I am excited to see Angle compete at Mania and then again after, so him hinting that the mixed-tag bout won't be his last match is great news.
