WWE News: Kurt Angle to appear at upcoming UK Live Event
What’s the story?
WWE announced on Twitter that Raw General Manager Kurt Angle will appear at the Birmingham, England Live Event on Nov. 7.
In case you didn’t know...
Kurt Angle returned to the WWE earlier this year as the headliner for the Hall of Fame, after eleven long years. He was named the new Raw General Manager the night after WrestleMania 33 by Vince McMahon and has appeared in this role on WWE programming ever since.
Angle returned to the ring at the TLC pay-per-view and replaced Roman Reigns who was removed from the show due to illness.
The heart of the matter
A report published by Wrestling Inc. says that Angle was already scheduled to appear on the Nov. 6 edition of Raw that will take place in Manchester, England but the announcement by WWE means that Angle will appear at the Live Event at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham, England too.
Angle has been a mainstay on WWE programming since he began his role as the Raw General Manager, but his appearance at this upcoming house show may be occurring in light of Reigns being pulled from shows following his illness.
The last house show Angle appeared on in Birmingham was in 2009 for TNA Impact Wrestling when he and Scott Steiner teamed up to face AJ Styles and Jeff Jarrett. The last WWE house show Angle appeared on in Birmingham was back in 2005 when Angle wrestled Shawn Michaels.
What’s next?
The announcement from WWE’s Twitter didn’t specify if Angle was wrestling on the house show, so the likelihood of Angle having a match again isn’t likely.
Angle was used minimally in the TLC match last week so its doubtful that the WWE would put the Olympic Gold Medalist in another match until WrestleMania.
Author’s take
The fans in Birmingham will have the pleasure of greeting Kurt Angle with his infamous “you suck” chants as he addresses the fans in England.
Whether anything other than words will be exchanged remains to be seen.
