From the WWE Rumor Mill: Late arrival caused WWE RAW 25 segments to be re-written last moment
What’s the story?
Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated has reported that there at least two segments/matches from the 25 Anniversary show of WWE RAW that had to be re-written just a couple of hours before show time.
The first, as you already may have heard was that then WWE Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore was to take the 'Wazzup' groin headbutt and table spot from the Dudley Boyz, while the second has now revealed to have been the segment with the past General Managers of RAW.
In case you didn’t know…
Enzo Amore's spot was re-written due to his suspension earlier that day, which later turned into his release from WWE. They had also hoped to have done more with the former General Manager's, which is why Eric Bischoff, who many regard as the best GM in WWE history, made an unadvertised appearance on the RAW Pre-Show.
The heart of the matter
Justin Barrasso is reporting that WWE had originally planned a backstage skit with the former GM's, similar to where the legends entered Kurt Angle's room, that would have seen them have banter with The Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon.
However, Jimmy informed WWE that he was unable to arrive at the Barclay's Center until after the show would have started and thus this forced WWE to change the segment to the former GM's being introduced on the stage and Fallon being shown in the audience.
What’s next?
WWE doesn't have any harsh feelings towards Fallon for not being able to make the show and will continue to have stars appear on The Tonight Show whenever he asks them to.
Author’s take
I think it is a shame Jimmy couldn't make the show on time as I feel that the former GM's, especially Eric Bischoff, deserved more than just waving to the audience from the stage.
