WWE News: Latest updates on the retirement of The Dudley Boyz

They surely deserve to be in the Hall of Fame

This week's episode of Monday night Raw was filled with some very high and low moments. Some parts of the show were enjoyed by fans and others left a sour taste in their mouths.

Although one segment which surely left a lasting impression on the minds of the fans was the retirement speech of the former Tag Team Champions The Dudley Boyz.

It was announced earlier in the day by Brother Ray that the legendary team of D-Von Dudley and Bubba Ray Dudley has decided to call time on their career and they would be delivering a final message to the WWE Universe on Raw before leaving.

And while the first part of their retirement speech went well and the whole arena came on their feet to show the deserving respect to the legendary duo, it was the ending which left the fans wondering if the whole thing was legit.

As seen on Raw, the final appearance of Dudley Boyz was interrupted by former NJPW stars Anderson and Gallows and the team collectively known as The Club was the pair which was standing tall in the ring to end the segment.

Since WWE has a rich history of faking retirement to generate some cheap heat for the heels many fans assumed that the whole segment was a hoax and it could very well have been done only to set up a feud between the two teams.

Although it looks like it wasn't the case this time and the segment was the last we will see of the Dudleys on WWE TV for a while. As reported by PWInsider, the retirement of The Dudley Boyz was legit and the team has decided to part ways with the company at least for now.

The site previously reported that WWE had reached an agreement with Bother Ray and D-Von and they would be getting a contract extension. Although it's now being said that those plans were nixed due to unknown reason and both sides decided to end their stint on friendly terms.

According to the site, the whole segment was designed to acquire some heel heat for The Club and the entire Raw crew including all the wrestlers and the management team along with the McMahons, who were waiting backstage following the Dudleys’ speech in the ring to give a farewell to the now former WWE employees.

The official state of the duo is once again said to be of 'Free Agents', and while the silver lining is still there for them to return somewhere down the line due to that incomplete speech, It's most likely that this was the last stint of the 40+ tag team as a full-time active members of the roster.
