WWE News: Locker room reportedly shocked at outcome of Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar match

Goldberg shocked the world at Survivor Series

For the past four and a half years, Brock Lesnar has plowed through competition since returning in 2012. Being gone from the company for eight years, Lesnar immediately made an impact after executing an F-5 to John Cena the day after WrestleMania XXVIII. Since then, he has ended every feud being victorious. However, at Survivor Series, it was a totally different story.

It only took less than a minute and a half for Goldberg to slay The Beast. The jaw-dropping decision sparked a swarm of controversy and theories of why this happened. Moreover, it left many backstage utterly shocked at what took place. According to PWInsider, much, if not just about all, of the locker room had no clue of the finish, and was just as shocked as the millions watching as spectators.

Even current and former WWE talent showed their shock on Twitter.

Former WWE Tag Team Champion Bubba Ray Dudley stated that Goldberg is “the one, who beat the one, that put the 1, in 21-1.”

Current NXT interviewer Cathy Kelly was shocked at how many seconds the match was.

Raw General Manager Mick Foley described the locker room reaction at the conclusion of the match.

It certainly was a shock to everyone watching that Goldberg was able to devour Lesnar in such quick fashion. However, the decision caused a great deal of buzz, much of it positive, which does nothing but help WWE. Now, all they have to do is find a way to capitalise from it.

Moreover, keeping the talent out of the loop regarding the finish is instrumental in allowing them to enjoy the match backstage as fans, which elicits a genuine reaction to the outcome. Many fans are invested in WWE personnel through social media, and seeing talent post their shock about the outcome also helps the product.

On Raw, Goldberg will address the victory. It will truly be interesting to see where WWE goes from here regarding the direction for both Goldberg and Lesnar heading to Royal Rumble and WrestleMania.
