The Indian superstar stood tall on Holi!

What's the story?

Only a few days ago, we had carried a story that Amanpreet Singh, formerly known as Mahabali Shera from Impact Wrestling had signed a developmental deal with WWE. We now bring you another update about the Superstar.

Not only did Singh make a huge debut at an NXT Live Event, that took place in Hilton, Ocala, he managed to stand tall as well. What made it special is that his win coincided with the Indian festival of colours, known as 'Holi'.

In case you didn't know...

Mahabali Shera first rose to prominence on 'Ring Ka King', where he was the final World Heavyweight Champion of the short-lived promotion. He signed to TNA in 2014 and had a variety of programs until 2017.

Perhaps his biggest achievement in TNA was when he won the Sony SIX Invitational Trophy in his home country of India, last year. He signed with WWE on 14 February, 2018.

The heart of the matter

Because of the huge market and opportunity that India represents, WWE is always on the look out for a face to capture the market and to connect with their fans. Mahabali Shera aka Amanpreet Singh would be ideal in this role, because he already has a big fanbase.

Even his win on Holi received a lot of praise and accolades across social media. From the looks of it, his opponent was NXT star Dan Matha. This is a big win for Singh, and an indication of how much faith the company has in him, as a future star.

What's next?

One can only speculate what Shera's ceiling will be in NXT, and how far he will be able to go as a Superstar on the main roster. Stay tuned for updates about his WWE career. We'll bring you news as and when we can.

Author's take

I've met Shera and I like the guy. He has a natural likeability that translates fantastically on screen.

I wish him nothing but the best.
