WWE News: Main event revealed for Madison Square Garden live eventĀ
What's the story?
WWE returns to Madison Square Garden in July as part of their SummerSlam Heatwave tour and the arena itself recently revealed that Roman Reigns and Samoa Joe will collide in a blockbuster main event.
In case you didn't know...
Samoa Joe and Roman Reigns have crossed paths in the past with Reigns defending his Intercontinental Championship against the Samoan Submission Machine back in December.
The two men obviously have history with Joe being the storyline reason that both Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose have sent time on the sidelines over the past few years. It seems that the two could be set to renew the feud that was never fully able to take off because of Joe's injury, but this could be some kind of hint as to where Joe will fit in when he returns to TV.
Joe hasn't been seen since the beginning of the year, with his last match being against Roman Reigns for the Intercontinental Championship on New Year's Day. It is reported that the star has been cleared and could be ready to return in the coming weeks.
The heart of the matter
The Arena recently announced that WWE will be returning to Madison Square Garden in New York in the summer as part of their SummerSlam Heatwave tour and the huge main event match that is being promoted will see Roman Reigns take on Samoa Joe, it is unclear as of yet if Reigns will be the Champion at that point.
It was also announced that the Madison Square Garden crowd would be able to see Ronda Rousey in action as part of the show as well as Braun Strowman, Seth Rollins, Finn Balor, Elias and many more.
It seems as though it's going to be a huge show, MSG has always been a happy hunting ground for WWE and the line up already looks as though it will ensure that continues.
What's next?
Samoa Joe hasn't yet returned to WWE since his injury earlier this year and it is unknown if he will play a part in WrestleMania, a place where the former NXT star is yet to have a match. Reigns takes on Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship in what is reported to be this year's main event.
Author's take
Samoa Joe is someone who was always destined to become a star on the main roster but hasn't been able to kick himself into gear just yet. Reigns and Joe would definitely put on a show and if it's a hint towards the feud's that will be happening in WWE around this year's SummerSlam then it's definitely worth looking forward to.
