WWE News: Main Roster Superstar tried to push for a move back to NXT
What's the story?
Tye Dillinger made an interesting revelation on Twitter recently when he admitted to pushing for a move back to NXT. The 37-year-old superstar disclosed the information while replying to a fan's question on the social networking site.
In case you didn't know...
Dillinger has been out of action due to a hand injury and was last seen on WWE TV during the SmackDown episode of September 25, 2018. The popular WWE Superstar, however, made his in-ring return at the recently concluded live event held at the NIU Convention Center in Deklab, IL. He took on Shelton Benjamin in a losing effort at the house show on Saturday and looks fit to return to WWE programming.
For those of you who don't know, Dillinger is a veteran who first signed with the WWE back in 2006. He wrestled in WWE's developmental system before being a part of the ECW reboot in 2008. Dillinger was released from the company in 2009, after which he worked in the independent circuit for four years before making his return to NXT in 2013.
His 'Perfect 10' gimmick clicked with the fans at Full Sail University and Dillinger would eventually go on to make his main roster debut on the SmackDown episode on April 2017.
Dillinger's main roster run has been thoroughly underwhelming, which did force him to think of a move back to NXT.
The heart of the matter
A fan on Twitter asked Dillinger whether he would consider a return to NXT if the opportunity arises to which he replied with the following tweet:
Dillinger even hyped up his in-ring return...
What's next?
WWE's incredibly stacked roster means that talents such as Dillinger may not have a credible feud upon their return. Getting TV time itself seems like a distant dream as WWE can only focus on a handful of storylines on a 2-hour SmackDown episode.
Nonetheless, WWE Creative should ideally find a way to utilize the now healthy Dillinger in some capacity on the road to WrestleMania 35.
