From the WWE Rumor Mill: Major spoiler on longevity of the Shield reunion

The Shield is likely to work together for the rest of 2017
The Shield is likely to work together for the rest of 2017

What’s the story?

The WWE Live Holiday Tour is now promoting a December 26th house show at the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York with The Shield competing against The Miz, Sheamus & Cesaro in the main event.

Additionally, several other RAW Superstars are being advertised for the live event, with the most prominent topic of discussion being the WWE is indirectly acknowledging the fact that Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins are planned to work as a team for the remainder of this year.

In case you didn’t know…

Reigns, Ambrose & Rollins reunited on a recent episode of Monday Night RAW, and reformed their legendary stable, The Shield, after about 3 years.

Industry experts are of the view that the WWE has booked the reassembly of the Hounds of Justice, so as to put Reigns over as a babyface and give him a decent storyline before the Road to Wrestlemania begins at the Royal Rumble early next year.

Some have even speculated it's because Cena and Lesnar are not a part of the TLC pay-per-view.

The heart of the matter

Speaking of which, one ought to note that yet another purpose behind the WWE bringing back the Shield is the promotion’s objective to provide a much-needed boost to its upcoming TLC PPV which goes down later this month.

Furthermore, though the Shield reunion was rumored to be a brief one, the WWE’s announcement of them headlining the aforementioned Live Event is a considerably strong indicator of WWE maintaining the Hounds of Justice as a team until the conclusion of the 2017 calendar year.

Below is the updated MSG card—

·      Features John Cena, Braun Strowman, Finn Balor, Samoa Joe, Sasha Banks, Alexa Bliss, Bayley, Bray Wyatt, and Matt Hardy among others.
·      Main event—The Shield vs The Miz, Sheamus & Cesaro.

What’s next?

Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins compete against the Miz, Sheamus, Cesaro, Braun Strowman and Kane in a TLC match at the upcoming RAW brand-exclusive Tables, Ladders & Chairs pay-per-view which goes down on October 22nd.

Author’s take

Well, I think it’d be safe to say that this is wonderful news for fans of the SWAT-gear rocking, powerbombin’ Hounds of Justice.

The WWE has played a masterstroke by bringing them back together, and here’s hoping they work in unison well beyond the cusp of this year.
