What's the story?

The WWE Hall of Fame ceremony was one filled with stars, glitz and glamour from the start to the very finish. One of the men inducted was 'The World's Strongest Man', Mark Henry.

During his acceptance speech, Mark Henry broke down in tears and remembered his old friend Owen Hart. He tearfully begged Owen Hart's widow, Martha, to allow him to be a part of the WWE Hall of Fame someday.

In case you didn't know...

Owen Hart died in May 1999 owing to a freak accident, where he fell from a great height to his death. Martha Hart, Owen's widow, was never able to forgive the company ever since and has taken legal action on various occasions since his unfortunate demise.

In the episode entitled 'RAW is Owen', a special to celebrate Owen Hart's life shortly after his demise, Mark Henry was especially tearful. The two sports entertainers had a very special sort of relationship.

The heart of the matter

Mark Henry asked the camera to zoom in close during the Hall of Fame ceremony and made a request to Martha Hart, as can be seen in the video linked above. He specified that the request did not come from management or the other wrestlers, but from his 'other brother'.

He asked Hart to reconsider her stance about not allowing Owen Hart to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. Henry tearfully asked her to allow Hart to be inducted. The roar of the crowd pretty much proved that the audience was in agreement. Only time will tell what happens next!

What's next?

Mark Henry is now in the WWE Hall of Fame. Will Owen Hart go in someday? Stranger things have happened in WWE.

Author's take

I was super glad to see both Jeff Jarrett and Mark Henry mention Owen Hart during the induction ceremony. Owen's always been a superstar whose name gets forgotten when mentioning the all-time greats, and this was really cool to see.

I do hope that he gets into the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony some day.
