WWE News: Mark Henry speaks on his respect for Randy Orton & why the Greatest Royal Rumble is special
What’s the story?
WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry recently spoke with The National and covered a number of topics, including his respect for WWE star Randy Orton, and WWE's Greatest Royal Rumble.
In case you didn’t know...
Mark Henry defeated Randy Orton for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Night of Champions 2011.
The year 2011 is regarded as the best year of Henry's career, not just for the World title win, but having most of the best matches of his entire career.
He spent much of his time in 2011 in the ring feuding with Randy Orton for the Heavyweight Championship, where Orton gave Henry a handful of The World's Strongest Man's best matches.
The heart of the matter
While speaking with The National to promote the Greatest Royal Rumble event, Mark Henry spoke on a number of topics. Henry spoke about how special the Greatest Royal Rumble is, saying:
"You have a lot of guys who have not wrestled in a long time in the WWE competing. Great Khali, Kurt Angle, Bobby Lashley, Rey Mysterio and myself and many others. It is an unbelievable thing. You also have The Undertaker up against Rusev. Triple H against John Cena. This is special. It is like WrestleMania in some of the special events we have going on here."
Mark also spoke about having a lot of respect for WWE star Randy Orton. When speaking about The Viper, Mark said, "Randy Orton is one of the people in the industry I respect the most. Not many people can be as smooth and polished in the ring as Randy is, and still be over with the fans, and he is one of the very best in the industry. For me to able to win over him twice in a row was one of the biggest things in my career as I have so much respect for him."
What's next?
The Greatest Royal Rumble takes place this Friday, on April 27, 2018, at the King Abdullah Sports City's King Abdullah International Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Author's take
The Greatest Royal Rumble event is very quickly becoming one of the biggest events in wrestling history, and has a far more impressive card than many WrestleMania events, so I see Mark's comparisons to WrestleMania when talking about how special it will be.
He is also spot on about Randy Orton as Randy helped Mark look great in the ring during their feud.
