What's the story?

Matt Hardy's tour of India has just concluded, and in association with SONY, the network that telecasts WWE in India, he was a part of several crossover events. One of them was a stint in a cricket broadcast booth.

Everybody on the cricket broadcast panel seemed amused and entertained by the eccentric Matt Hardy. Especially Sunil Gavaskar, legendary Indian cricketer, who asked Hardy for a selfie.

In case you didn't know...

Matt Hardy was in Mumbai for a brief spell, where I had a chance to interview the man. You may read our conversation here as well as here.

Hardy also went to the sets of Indian Idol and enthralled the crowd there with his crazed histrionics. Nobody expected a crossover to take place between Hardy and cricket though. The Woken Universe and the cricketing world had little in common, until now.

The heart of the matter

As an American, Matt Hardy would certainly not have been familiar with the rules of cricket, a sport that never really picked up in the United States. Needless to say those on Twitter were really amused at the crossover, and let their thoughts be known:

Legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar was especially amused with Matt Hardy and asked him for a selfie. During the course of the interaction, Hardy also put over the Tryouts that would happen next year, to pick a new WWE superstar from the country.

Hardy would then go to Chennai and have adventures in the South of India too. He learned how to pour tea, in the traditional Indian way. He also donned Indian attire, as can be seen here.

India just became 'woken'!

What's next?

Matt Hardy has said that he will return to the ring again. It remains to be seen when that will happen. It also remains to be seen if special matches like the Ultimate Deletion will return.
