WWE News: Members of the WWE roster react to Chad Gable's performance at Clash Of Champions
What's the story?
Last night at Clash Of Champions, there was a Fatal-4-Way match for the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships. Of the eight men in the match, one man, in particular, got the attention of his peers within the WWE.
In case you didn't know...
Chad Gable competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, England. He was able to win his first match of the games but would lose in the following round.
Gable signed a developmental deal with the WWE in 2013 and lost to Tyler Breeze in his television debut. He would then form American Alpha with Jason Jordan after Jordan's tag team with Tye Dillinger dissolved.
The heart of the matter
One of the most amazing sequences of the evening came when Chad Gable would deliver THREE suplexes consecutively to Aiden English, Rusev, and Big E. Two of them were rolling suplexes as you can see in the gifs below:
Social media was definitely exploding after Gable landed the last rolling suplex on Big E. After the match, Gable would post the following:
The tone of the tweet comes from the fact that Gable and Shelton Benjamin are currently working as heels in a tag division where the lines of heel and babyface are very blurred.
Though Gable and Benjamin were impressive at Clash Of Champions, they were not victorious. The Usos defied the odds of the Fatal-4-Way to retain their championships.
What's next?
It is unknown what direction the WWE is going to go with Benjamin and Gable after Clash Of Champions. Since Gable took the pin, it is unlikely they will be in the title picture in the near future.
SmackDown Live takes place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey this Tuesday, and that episode could give us a clue on what's next for this tag team.
Author's take
First off, I hope the WWE does Fatal-4-Way tag matches like that from now on. I loved the new format because it added different dynamics to the match as opposed to the traditional way a Fatal-4-Way tag match is run with only two wrestlers in the ring at the same time.
There really is no higher praise in professional wrestling than what you receive from your peers, and Gable definitely deserved it at Clash Of Champions. I'm not sure if there will be tag team gold with Shelton Benjamin in his future, but there is a bright future ahead for Gable for sure.
