What's the story?

It hasn't been too long since we last saw Michelle McCool in a WWE ring, but it looks like the legendary superstar may be on her way back to WWE!

After the announcement of the new WWE Women's Tag Team Championships, McCool has taken to social media to signal that she would be interested in returning to the ring.

In case you didn't know...

WWE Legend Michelle McCool returned to WWE at the first ever Women's Royal Rumble, and again at WWE Evolution. Before her return, McCool delivered a pretty strong hint that she was preparing for Evolution - posting a video where she trained in the ring, boasting that she still had it.

The two-time WWE Divas Champions and two-time WWE Women's Champion was Pro Wrestling Illustrated's Woman of the Year in 2010 and ranked number one on the list of the top 50 female wrestlers in the PWI Female 50 in the same year.

The heart of the matter

Michelle McCool has taken to Twitter and Instagram today to hint that she may very well be returning to WWE soon - all they've got to do is ask.

McCool responded to a fan who asked about a reunion between herself and Layla El, confirming that she'd be game for a return if Layla agreed.

McCool furthered the rumours with an Instagram post, referencing the titles and sharing a photo of herself and Layla El.

What's next?

Well, who knows? WWE revealed the Women's Tag Team Championships on last night's RAW via Alexa Bliss, who confirmed that six teams, three from both RAW and SmackDown, would compete inside the Elimination Chamber at the pay-per-view of the same name to crown the inaugural champions. Could we have a returning team compete? Only time will tell.
